Viking Tournament Results: Open

I only have results with me here at home from Open finals (but no names...), so I apologize. But I figured you'd recognize some people, so you don't need their initials anyway. :)

Congratulations to University of Kansas, winner of the Viking Shield, and the tournament. It's not many tournaments where you have to write up on the board your hotel requests because the roads back home have been shut down due to snow. But Midwesterners are tough.

Congratuations to our second place winners from K-State. If they look tired, it's because the round took more than 3 hours from 1AC to decision.

I hope their snowman brings them much luck. At the very least, buying snowmen turned out to be very appropriate (we got more than 3 inches of snow on Sunday).

Finally, a MAJOR thank you to Josh Gonzalez, our (self-appointed, admittedly) Tab Room King. He made our tourney run very smoothly. He and Kate deserve a HUGE round of applause for making everything go so well this weekend. Thanks to those of you who came to our campus. We were very excited to host so many of you and we hope to do it again in the future.

Carry with the beautiful cookies she decorated. She sure looks excited!

Don't mess with our squad--or you'll suffer the fate of Gingy (you'll be attacked by a shark!)

Trophies!

Following in the fine tradition of Matt Moore, we have secured some very, very awesome trophies for our tournament.

The first picture is of our first place, Open division trophy: a Viking Shield. It comes complete with a chain, so you can hang it from the wall. (And if you win and you're flying, we promise to ship it to you).

The second picture is of our first place, Novice and JV trophy: a Viking Statue. He'll be standing on a wooden block in the near future. And he'll be standing right side up (please turn your head sideways for the full effect).

The trophies for the other elim debates will be these adorable Isabel Bloom snowpeople statues--made of concrete--no problems with breaking them this year!

As always, our speaker awards will be harmony balls, with the exception of first place. First place speakers in each division will receive the very adorable Pete the Penguin.

We can't wait for you to join us at our tournament!

Welcome to my first attempt at the Augustana Debate blog!
We'll be posting pictures of our team, our tournament, and the trophies we've bought for our tournament in the very near future! Enjoy!
